As Thailand introduced an arbitration court and mediation facility dedicated to intellectual property disputes and licensing matters, HH Judge Michael Fysh from the Patents County Court, London undertook a two-day training in Bangkok under an ECAP national programme. While in Bangkok, Judge Fysh met with judges including Chief Judge Justice Prachya Kosaiyaganonth of the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court. Attending the training at the Department of Intellectual Property were some 40 participants from law firms, collecting societies, law enforcement agencies and the academia. Judge Fysh began the training with an introduction on the European Patent Office, and his subsequent presentations in particular how the Central London County Court handles mediation generated much interest among participants. "What is being done in Thailand should be positively encouraged. It chimes well with the psychology of the region and meets the problems of pressure under which the CIPIT Court is working on," observed Judge Fysh.
