South East Asian Drafting (SEAD) Course, 14-18 May 2007, Bangkok


With the support from the European Patent Office (EPO) and ECAP II, the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) organised for the first time the South East Asian Drafting Course (SEAD) Course in Bangkok, Thailand.  The first of two training sessions in patent drafting starting on 14 May 2007 gathered some 42 participants from eleven countries namely Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Course was opened by Ms. Puangrat Asavapisit, Director General of the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, Mr. Erik Habers, Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Commission to Thailand and Mr. David Carmichael, Member of FICPI Training & Education Commission. 

The SEAD Course was introduced first in Singapore in 1997 and has thereafter been developed and successfully adopted in Australia and Europe.  

The second training session will be held in Bangkok on 17-21 September 2007.
