EU-ASEAN Training Course on "Trade Mark Absolute Grounds Examination" 21-22 November, 2002, Bangkok

This ECAP -sponsored training course on absolute grounds examination that focused on, among other things, new types of trade marks responded to the specific request from the majority of ASEAN countries. Two OHIM experts with several years of experience in substantive trade mark examination joined two participants from each ASEAN IP Office in a two-day training course covering all areas relating to absolute grounds for refusal examination, incorporating new developments and practices such as colour marks, sound marks and smell marks etc. The training also involved comparative analysis and the assessment of case examples. In addition, the activity provided an opportunity for ASEAN countries to exchange views on national practices relating to the examination of absolute grounds for refusal, a process that enhances common knowledge and harmonization of the practices.
