To promote IP education in ASEAN, this ECAPII activity made it possible for a group of lecturers listed below from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to undertake post-graduate studies at two leading European IPR institutions. The first half of the programme took them to the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre in Germany and the second half to Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute in London, the United Kingdom. These scholars met again in Singapore on 17-18 August 2005 to present the output for a possible common curriculum for teaching of IP in the region. Here is the list of ASEAN participants in this scholarship programme: - Cambodia: Mr. San Sorphorn, Department of Public Law, Royal University of Law and Economics, Phnom Penh. He lectures on international law, and has taken active part in curriculum design.
- Indonesia: Ms.Rahmi Jened, Faculty of Law, University of Airlangga in Surabaya. Apart from teaching business laws including IPR, and researching, she is also a member of Technical Services Unit of the IP Centre, where she advises and assists on matters of patent, trade mark and design.
- Malaysia: Asst. Prof. Dr.Juriah Abdul Jalil from the Private Law Department of the International Islamic University, Malaysia. Dr. Juriah teaches law, while serving as co-ordinator of the Legal Practice Unit – the unit is responsible for coordinating and supervising programmes on legal professional skills. A number of her writings on IP and IT law have been published.
- Philippines: Atty.Ferdinand Negre, partner,Bengzon Negre Untalan IP Attorneys.
- Singapore: Assoc. Prof. Samtani Anilkumar, Division of Business Law, Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University. He is also deputy director, Centre for Asia Pacific Technology and Policy. He teaches management of IP and innovation; e-business law, policy and strategy; IT law and international business law. In addition, he has done research in the field of IP law, policy, internet law and regulations.
- Thailand: Ms. Lukana Pobromyen, lecturer from the School of Law, Faculty of Social Science, Chiangmai University.
- Vietnam: Mr. Tran Le Hong, lecturer at the IP Training and Research Centre, NOIP. He lectures and organizes training on IP for NOIP, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Hanoi University.
