The press conference on the cooperation between European and ASEAN customs officials on 20 November 2003 was attended by 26 media representatives, as well as representatives from EU Member State embassies in Manila. From left, Ms Carmen G. Peralta from the IPO Philippines, Deputy Commissioner Ray M. Allas, Bureau of Customs, Mr. Pacifico A. Avenido Jr., Deputy Director General, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines Mr Christophe Zimmermann, and Mr Nam Ngo Thien at far right. Mr Zimmermann’s presentation of statistics illustrating the extent of the problem, and the diverse range of counterfeited products [shown here at the stand in front] some of which could harm consumer health and safety, generated considerable publicity for the event.
