A five-day workshop and on-site trainings at the Hanoi Airport and the Haiphong Port were conducted by four customs officials from the European Commission Directorate General of Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD), Customs from Belgium and Greece. During the workshop, some 50 Vietnamese customs and economic police officers learnt the “control less but better” technique which is widely used at the European borders. Sessions were also held where right holders provided participants important technical information to better distinguish genuine and fake goods and to learn about their strategies. Representatives from International companies or associations such as L’Oreal, Chanel, Christian Dior (perfumes), Givenchy, Guerlain and Kenzo, Tag Heuer , National Interprofessionnal Bureau of Cognac, IFPI, Unilever, Scotch Whisky Association, Cisco Technology, Pfizer UK and Nike were among the trainers.
The workshop was jointly held by ECAP II and the General Department of Customs of Vietnam and was opened by H.E. Markus Cornaro, Ambassador-Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam and Mr. Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuc, Deputy Director of General Department of Customs, Vietnam.
