Study Visit in Europe on Copyright Protection and Copyright Management issues, 24-28 September 2007, Germany and Austria

A delegation of seven senior officials and Copyright stake-holders from Vietnam, led by Dr Vu Manh Chu, Director General of the Copyright Office from Vietnam (COV), undertook a five-day study visit to Germany and Austria on copyright protection and management issues. During this event organised in co-operation with the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO) and the Austrian Ministry of Justice, Vietnamese delegates met with German and Austrian agencies involved in the protection and collecting management of copyrights and related rights to learn from their experience.  These agencies were GEMA (Germany's collecting society for works of music, VG Wort (Germany's collecting society for scientific and literary works ), Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavaria's largest broadcasting organisation), KommAustria (Austrian Government Supervision on Collecting Societies), AKM (Austria's collecting society for musical works (performing rights)) and Austro Mechana (Austria´s collecting society for musical works (mechanical rights)),      

The study visit forms part of ECAP II’s efforts to improve the knowledge and skills of copyright-related officials and stake-holders as well as to promote the development of collecting management of copyrights in Vietnam.
