Ms. Ana Soeiro, GI expert from Portugal, undertook a second mission to Vietnam to visit the Binh Thuan Province and the Phu Quoc Island where two Vietnamese GI registered products (the Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit and the Phu Quoc Fish Sauce) are produced. Accompanied by Vietnamese officials from the National Intellectual Property Office (NOIP) and the Ministry of Agriculture of Vietnam, Ms. Soeiro met with local authorities and the two GI stake-holders to analyse the current status of the two GIs. Moreover, she consulted on available systems of internal and external control and provide recommendations to Vietnamese authorities and GI producers on the control system as well as information requested in the framework of future Vietnamese applications for GI protection in the European Union.
