Exhibition of IP Infringed Products, 31 August – 4 September 2006, Hanoi

ECAP II and the Market Control Department ( MCD)of the Ministry of Trade of Vietnam co-organised an exhibition on IPR and counterfeit products at in Hanoi to raise the general public awareness on the importance of intellectual property rights protection. The exhibition was jointly opened by H.E. Markus Cornaro, Ambassador-Head of the EC Delegation to Vietnam and H.E. Phan The Rue, Vice Minister of Trade. During this exhibition, IP counterfeit products seized by MCD Officers from provinces including Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang,  Hai Phong, Hanoi, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Langson and Yen Bai were showcased together with samples of genuine products to help the public to differentiate fake and genuine products as well as to better understand the risks & damages associated with the purchase of IP infringing products. Representatives from the right-holders (Unilever, Nokia, Nike, Canon, Honda) were also present on the ECAP II/MCD exhibition for the same purpose
