The first training centre on Intellectual Property in Vietnam was inaugurated on 27 February 2007 by HE Dr Markus Cornaro, Ambassador-Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam and HE Le Duc Tien, Vice Minister of Science and Technology.
The training centre, located in the premises of the National Office of Intellectual Property (NOIP) in Hanoi, was equipped with a comprehensive set of IT equipment for up to 30 participants. These materials will increase the efficiency of in-house and external training sessions such as seminars and workshops thereby further improving participants’ knowledge on IP.
During the inauguration ceremony, HE Markus Cornaro handed over IT equipment to other Vietnamese IP agencies. These beneficiary agencies included the People’s Supreme Court, the Market Control Department (MCD), the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Copyright Office of Vietnam (COV), the Economic Police and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Ho Chi Minh City.
The US$ 200,000 IT procurement to Vietnamese IP agencies forms part of ECAP II’s national programme in Vietnam.
