As part of ECAP II national activity with Thailand, a delegation of Thai officials from the Police, the Attorney-General’s Office and the Department of Intellectual Property travelled to France and Italy to study border enforcement measures. The programme is designed to familiarize the Thais with how European authorities fight against counterfeiting and piracy. The Thai delegation was accompanied throughout the journey by Mr Riccardo Castiglioni from law firm Castiglioni Bonelli Marchetti le Divilec and Ms Gulsemin Bal, ECAP II Administrative Assistant. Mr Castiglioni (seen here at first left) has extensive experience in the field of IPR enforcement.
At the first stop in Paris, the Thai delegation was welcomed by Mr Jean-Baptiste Mozziconacci, (pictured above, second from left) Director for Cooperation and Bilateral Affairs, the National Institute of Industrial Property of France. While in France, the Thai officials exchanged views with the French customs authorities, the French judicial police and with the Union of Fabric Manufacturers.
The study visit also took the Thais to Italy. In addition to Rome where they visited the Financial Police Office which plays the instrumental role in combating counterfeiting, they also studied measures enforced by the Italian customs at the airport and port.
