Seminar on Geographical Indications, 21 April 2006, Khon Kaen

A one-day seminar was organised by the Queen Sirikit Institute of Sericulture in Khon Kaen, a province in the north-east region of Thailand. During the seminar, Mr Stephane Passeri, ECAP II Programme Administrator, presented an overview of GI in Europe and the development of GI in Asia to officials from various centres across Thailand.  In an effort to promote GI protection in the Thai sericulture, Ms Wachara Chamnanwong, Head of GI group, Trademark Office of the Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand also spoke about the potential of Thai silk as a GI protected product, current regulations on GI protection of Thailand and the process of GI applications.
