Development of the IP Attorney Profession 14-25 February 2005

Although there is currently no system in the Philippines to register and accredit patent attorneys, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines has shown keen interest in developing one such system, and ECAP II has made significant contribution to this effort. In May 2004, ECAP II funded a mission by EPO expert Daniel Closa to lay the first set of ground works to accomplish this goal. As a result of the mission, Mr. Closa drafted a set of recommendations for the development of a Patent Agent Qualifying Examination in the Philippines. This activity is a follow-up of that first major step.
