Completion and Updates of Implementing Decrees and Guidelines in the Field of IP Consultants, Jakarta, 14-25 February 2005

There is currently a lot of discussion in Indonesia about the role of intellectual property consultant that is mentioned in all parts of the new IP legislation. As Indonesia is preparing to enact the IP legislation, European expert, Mr Karl Rackette will undertake this ECAPII mission to study the current legislation in the field of IP consultants and assist the Indonesian authorities with the drafting of implementing decrees and guidelines in this field.

Mr Rackette, German citizen, is the senior partner of the Rackette Partnerschaft law firm and patent attorney practicing in Freiburg near the Swiss and French borders. He is a professional representative before the European Patent Office as well as the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trade Marks and Designs).

Along with his experience as a patent attorney for 25 years, Mr Rackette has been involved in training since 1989 as a lecturer for WIPO. In the areas of training, since 1992 he has been a tutor at CEIPI in Strasbourg, involved particularly in preparing candidates for the European Qualifying Examination. From 1997, he has been a regular tutor in the SEAD/FICPI Patent Drafting Course.
