
Under the ECAP II programme, Mr. Óscar Mondéjar and Mr. Luca Rampini, experts from the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) conducted a training course on trade mark examinations for over 50 participants from the Intellectual Property Department (IPD) of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, various ministries, universities and the private sectors in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 3 to 5 October 2006. On 6 October, an internal consultation followed the seminar to assist the IPD in drafting guidelines on the protection of Well-Known Marks.
H.E. Mao Thora, Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce of and Mr Daniel Costa-Llobet, Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Delegation of the European Commission to Cambodia opened the four-day event.
At the opening of the workshop Mr Costa-Llobet emphasised: “This training session will help Cambodians to better understand trade marks, their registration and protection, offering Cambodian and foreign producers alike more security in their relationships with their customers.”
